Long Beach Grange To Re-Organize. Since the early
1980’s, the Long Beach Grange operated Bingo very successfully,
entertaining people on the peninsula four nights a week. After years of
additions and remodeling, the Grange Hall is quite impressive and in very good
condition. There are two nice kitchens - one set up as full on commercial grade
as it was leased to the food concession servicing the Bingo. The hall itself is
large and like a traditional Grange there’s a stage. But the floor is divided
with a glass enclosed non-smoking section that was rendered obsolete with the
state smoking ban. Downstairs is a large dinning room connected with the second
kitchen. The Long Beach Grange did good community service and sponsored
programs like Angel Lights - which decorated the main strip during the
holidays. Bingo also maintained four employees. But due to the economy, other
gaming venues and perhaps even the wheels of time, Bingo started to fall off. The
demands of the operation seemed to be the singular focus of the Grange and the
small group that maintained it.
