The Skamokawa and Grays River Granges are planning a second Contra (Country) Dance for June 6 at the Skamokawa Grange. Those that attended the Contra dance in January dance had a heel kicking good time. More information will follow as planning is finalized. In the meantime, mark your calendars to attend the June 6 Contra Dance in Skamokawa.
The details for a Farmers Market in Naselle are being worked out. Volunteers are needed to make it work. The market is planned for Saturdays from noon to five o’clock. Anyone interested in helping can call 465-2841 for more information.
Some things never change: Steve Puddicombe, Grange Lecturer, read from the April 8, 1916 Grange minutes at the last meeting. The hot issue of the day back in 1916 was whether or not to dredge the Grays River. Minute books, dated from 1916 to 1922, were obtained by Puddicombe through the Appelo Archive Center in Naselle. In the documents, Grangers were passing resolutions regarding state and local issues. They were also maintaining our hall with a receipt due of $2.00 for repairs done! The Grange is interested in retrieving its history in minutes and treasury information. Please contact the Steve Puddicombe if you have these items so they can be added to the Grays River Grange archives.
