By Donna Moody CWAWe are getting very close to the Wahkiakum County Pomona Spring Contests. The contest will be held at the Grays River Grange Hall on Saturday May 9th. I will open the hall at 12noon to receive entries that have not already been turned in. Judging will begin at 2pm. If you have an entry for our contest but will not be available on Saturday, please, please, please arrange with me ahead of time for pick up. My phone number is 360-465-2253. Also remember the contest is also OPEN to NON-MEMBERS.
This is a great year to enter because the Convention will be held in June at the Longview Fairgrounds - and since the Women's Activities and the Lecturer's Departments will host an open house on Thursday evening, you will be able to come to the Convention and view your winning entry in our display. This is a state wide contest and it is wonderful to be able to view the work of our multi-talented residents of Washington.
Judging will begin at 2pm Sat the 9th of May for the following: Baking, Canning and Cooked Candy, Sewing, Needlework, Quilting and Comfort Toys. The "Dress a Sox Bunny" and the "Quilt Block" contests will be judged at the State Convention so these items need to be entered at convention in June. Call me for more information.
The Lecture's Contest include Photography and Arts and Crafts which include anything you have created. Remember if we do not have a Group established - we will make one. We are looking for Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor, Pastels, Pen/Ink ages 14 and over. Also Fiber Crafts, Holiday Crafts, Wook Craft, Painted items both wood and ceramic. Stained Glass, Metal Craft, Lapidary, Clay, Leather, Wax - Paper Craft including Origami, Quiling, Rubber Stamping, Cards, Scrapbooks, PaperMache. Also Beading, Jewelry, Reycled Items, Wearable Art, Toys wood and other and remember we have Age groupings for Children 5-9 and 10-14.
Now I know we have many very talented residents in Wahkiakum County and since you need not be a Grange Member to enter you are all invited to join in on the fun. This Grange Spring Contest is a real great incentive for getting your County Fair Entries ready to enter. Please call ahead for early pickup of your entry, or bring your entry to the Grays River Grange Hall on the 9th between 12noon and 2pm. Thanks in advance for your support - see you at the Grange!
